Abhishek is an 9 year old boy, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste. He lives with her mother and his sister Usha. He is in 4th standard and studies in the Etmadpur Primary School in Agra.

Abhishek’s mother completed her schooling before she was married to his father and hence knows the importance of education. Abhishek’s father, Mr.Ranveer, was suffering from tuberculosis from the past 5 years and expired in September 2015. Due to caste traditions his mother has not been able to find a job. Abhishek and his family were also thrown out from their previous house because they were unable to pay the rent. Currently they reside at Abhishek’s paternal grandparents’ house.

Abhishek’s mother wants him to study and secure a government job in future. Abhishek himself is a very sincere child who works very hard to excel in academics. He has also received awards in drawing.

The school where Abhishek studies comes under the School Reform Program (SRP) of IDF. The aim of this program is to ensure that children like Abhishek are given the opportunity and motivation to study well and participate in extracurricular activities. The program also ensures that the children are provided with all the required infrastructure to enable them to obtain a good education.
